"Camden Fort Meagher is internationally recognized as being “One of the finest remaining examples of a classical Coastal Artillery Fort in the world”. For almost 400 years the fort played a key role as a strong strategic position for the defense of Ireland, the west coast of England and Wales. The fort is a prime location to watch ships passing through Cork Harbour, the second-largest natural harbour in the world."
"Described as “one of the finest remaining examples of a classical coastal artillery fort in the world,” Camden Fort Meagher dates back to 1550. Forming part of the harbour’s fortification system, it expanded gradually over the centuries. You can now wander through the deserted, windowless ramparts and around its craggy stone walls for an eerie insight into the history of Cork’s maritime defence."
"In a city chock-full of fine coffee houses and a county with the best roasting scene in Ireland, Filter is Cork’s epicenter for serious coffee drinkers. Assembled from recycled materials, it sports the clean, spare lines of a lab with none of the sterility, and an extensive array of coffee-related kit. Filter carries an impressive range of beans from top Irish roasters to titillate the obsessives yet functions equally well as a coffeehouse for the general public."
"Cork’s leading speciality coffee shop, serving an incredible range of Badger & Dodo and 3fe coffees, among other lesser known but quality other brands. They do filter, espresso or Aeropress, depending on your preference and you’ll even get some coffee education from your server. Not much seating though – it’s more like a coffee bar – so here’s hoping they expand soon!"
"Having opened their first outlet on Georges Quay in 2012, the people behind Filter opened a new location – Portafilter – at St. Peter’s Church in July 2016. Described by the Lonely Planet as ‘a carefully curated shrine to coffee nerdery’, Filter has all the menu options and offbeat fashionable charm of Dublin’s trendiest cafes, but without the capital-city crowds."
"Small, cute and dog friendly, Pinkmoon has some vegan options for brunch, as the full vegan breakfast in the picture above. But I felt in love with this place for their great choice of vegan sweet treats. Read more about Pink Moon >"
"A couple of years ago, Palestinian couple Izz and Eman Alkerajah and their children were entangled in Ireland’s asylum-seeker system when they began selling Eman’s traditional recipes from a tiny farmer’s market stall. Success was immediate and — asylum status now granted and full Irish citizenship in the pipeline — a year later they established a brick-and-mortar presence in Cork city, centered around their menu of manaeesh, or Palestinian flatbreads. Try the version with chicken, sweet braised red onions, and pine nuts, with sumac and olive oil for seasoning."

"St Multose founded a monastery here in the 6th century AD and this church is named for him. Built in 1190 (the oldest building in Kinsale)but with substantial alterations over the years, this remains an interesting example of Norman architecture and has remained in continuous use to the present day."
"Would avoid in heavy rain but otherwise, it is a very nice walk with steps down to small beaches. Excellent way to work up an appetite before enjoying one of Ballycotton’s many great restaurants. Ballycotton is a seaside resort village about 25 miles (40 kilometres) east of Cork city."
