The Top Art Galleries to Visit in Galway, Ireland
"Galway’s lavish five-star g Hotel was designed by none other than superstar milliner Philip Treacy, a native of the west coast county. His concept was based around the sea, and unique maritime touches abound throughout, such as a tank of Connemara-bred seahorses in the lobby and shell-shaped handles on each bedroom door. The two-floor destination spa here comes highly recommended, as does the hotel restaurant gigi’s, which holds two AA rosettes."
"The highlight here is a black pudding and potato hash, topped with an egg and sausages (feel free to argue this, but you will lose.). They also do an excellent full Irish or a breakfast wrap and they don’t squirm at odd requests. Pancakes with a side order of sausages and a big fat burger too?"
"This quaint, inviting restaurant is perfect for a night of wine, music and conversation over some seriously delicious French food. Swing jazz, classical guitar and piano can heard of a night throughout the week which just adds to the warm, buzzing atmosphere. The small menu means everything on it is cooked to perfection, from the striploin steak with blue cheese sauce (highly recommended) to the half-lobster, cooked fresh with garlic butter."
"Dominick Street has become quite the foodie spot in Galway, and it’s no wonder when you have such great choices, with French restaurant Rouge among its line up. Diners can enjoy fine cuisine that tastes great, is full of character, and bursting with beaucoup de bon vin."
"The best of all worlds at the Connemara Coast: a beautiful seaside location overlooking Galway Bay; a cheerfully family-friendly atmosphere; the rugged and splendid hinterland of western Ireland on the doorstep; and the cultural delights of Galway City just a few miles away. It’s a lovely combination."
"No matter what time of day, you won’t regret it if the neon sign lures you into Electric Arcade’s ‘streetfood discotheque’. In the evening, their impressive offering of cocktails and dishes – think 12-hour braised beef-cheek tacos or mac and cheese with smoked haddock – are elevated to an all-night experience, with a smorgasbord of whimsically designed spaces and music styles to suit your evolving mood. For a more relaxed Electric Arcade experience, the dual emphasis on atmosphere and delicious bites also works at lunchtime where ‘tasty treats and chilled out tunes’ will make you really feel like you’ve taken a break."
"Streetfood, Liquors, Entertainment & Dancing – All under one rooftop.” Biteclub is known for its funky atmosphere, it’s delicious cocktails and chilled out vibe. Their food is a modern take on street food from around the world; Think Mexican, Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food with a twist. They use locally sourced ingredients, they throw great gigs and even have a disco brunch… and the best thing about it is that the food is affordable!"
"The award winning 4**** Menlo Park Hotel & Conference Centre is a stylish & elegant property situated near the heart of Galway City. The emphasis at the Menlo Park is on offering the very best of modern facilities along with old fashioned hospitality, where our guests will be given a cordial welcome and an uncompromised level of service. At the Menlo Park Hotel, all of our 70 bedrooms are beautifully appointed and attractively designed with rich colour schemes - plus all of the usual facilities one would expect in a modern hotel of this standard."
"Menlo Park Hotel is found in a private property, conveniently within walking distance from Downtown Galway, and even nearer to Galway Shopping Center. It is one of the top choices for tourists who like shopping, sightseeing, and city walks. Once done with a full day of exploration, come home to your air-conditioned and WiFi-ready room in this four-star hotel that also has on-site dining with special diet menus waiting for you."
"O’Connell’s Bar is situated on the east of Eyre Square and is known for its quirky and unique features and for being home to one of the best beer gardens in all of Galway City. The outside beer garden is decorated to resemble an old-style street and is complete with cobblestones and shop and pub fronts which line the walls. This design makes this particular beer garden very unique and one well worth visiting."
"This pub on Galway's central Eyre Square may not look all that from the outside, but what you can't see from the street is the humungous beer garden. Or should that be beer street - after all they've built a Victorian street in their huge courtyard complete with a Dough Bros pizzeria and the whole thing has a retractable roof to cope with the Irish weather. More about O’Connell’s"

"Flannery's Hotel is long established in Galway City as a hotel offering comfort & style within relaxed surroundings making it an excellent choice for the business traveller or leisure guest alike. All rooms are tastefully decorated and equipped with modern 3 star features such as en-suite facilities, direct dial telephone, multi channel television, tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryer, and free WiFi throughout the hotel. "Ballyloughane Beach and Eyre Square are both a short drive away from Flannery’s Hotel, making it an ideal accommodation for beach-goers, as well as foodies. It is a three-star hotel that features an on-site Irish restaurant and a bistro that offers flavorful mixes and popular drinks. Rooms in this hotel are equipped with a work desk, coffee-making essentials, and WiFi access."
"It tends to (not always!) be one of the cheaper hotels in Galway, price wise, but it’s a bit outside the city, so you’ll need to grab a taxi. Based on my last couple of visits, I can vouch for the rooms being clean and the food from the bar being decent. The rooms are also modern and spacious."
"Located in the heart of Galway city’s main shopping thoroughfare, stands the historic building that is Garavan’s Public House dated back to 1650. There is a long-standing tradition of excellent whiskey-brewing in Ireland and Irish Whiskey, whose name derives from the Gaelic Uisce Beatha (‘Water of Life’), has been synonymous with Garavan’s since its inception 80 years ago. They offer an extensive collection of delicious (and some rare) whiskeys, one of the largest in Galway."
"Irish whiskeys are the speciality of this genteel old boozer. Incredible 'tasting platters' generally cost €11 to €14 – choices include an Irish Writers' platter, featuring the favourite tipples of Samuel..."
"If you’re in search of family friendly places to eat in Salthill, look no further than the Galleon Restaurant. When a restaurant has been owned by the same family for 3 generations, they’ve learned a thing or two along the way, and that’s how it is at The Galleon. The restaurant has been refurbished in recent times, but the family-friendly atmosphere has remained, making it one of several brilliant restaurants in Salthill for a family meal."
"However, when it is a stunner of a day, Galway is THE place to be. Notably, the Spanish Arch and Salthill, which come alive the moment a ray of sunshine hits Galway Bay. To take this list a little bit out of Galway City Centre, the Galleon Restaurant located in the heart of Salthill is an oldie but a goody."

"Da Roberta's Ristorante and Pizzeria is an authentic, family run Italian restaurant located in Salthill, Galway. The huge menu offers lots of delicious Italian dishes - including over 23 pizzas - to suit all taste buds and contains an extensive wine list featuring some of the best wines Italy has to offer."
"Out in Salthill, combine a stop here with a walk along the prom and you're winning. It tastes better if you work for it. I'd even go so far as to class Da Roberta's as one of Galway's best Italian restaurants (don't let their sporadic social media presence fool you otherwise)."
"Okay, so, you might think this does not actually count, as KFC has always offered take-away and is a fast-food restaurant but my God they do the best fried chicken on the planet. I ordered a gluttonous amount of food from their Briarhill location recently and it was incredibly tasty and piping hot when I got it. If I am in the mood for something that is a little on the unhealthy side, but don’t feel like going the traditional route of Supermacs or McDonalds, KFC is always a fantastic option."
"A relatively new addition to Galway's pizza scene, Pizza Amore is the sister restaurant to Pizza Napoli. Honestly, I would make it a double whammy and hit up both, one after the other."
"Bringing a real authentic taste of Italy to Galway City, this spot is perfect for a top-class pizza evening. Address: 4 Cross Street Upper, Galway, H91 C6X2"
