9 BEST Pubs in Killarney (Trad Pubs Ye'll LOVE in 2021)
"If you’ve ever dreamed of having a pint with Gandalf or protecting your burger from a hungry Gollum then this is the pub for you. Named after the Hobbit’s homeland of middle earth, the Shire offers an array of beers, cocktails, shots and gourmet burgers with names from the famous LOTR series. If you are lucky, Gandalf or Gollum will be around to take photos with or you can enjoy the free traditional music on Wednesdays and live band on Sundays."
"Perfectly located in the town centre, the Shire Cafe is easy to find (unlike Mordor) and the breakfast is top-notch. The menu here boasts a nice mix of options, with everything from porridge and a vegan breakfast to a full Irish and pancakes on offer. If you’re looking for a quick and easy breakfast in Killarney to-go, you can grab a smoothie from here and leg it off to do whatever activity you have planned for the day!"
"Nestled on New Market Lane, this quirky little cafe fires up a tasty feed for all who ramble through its doors. Out the front are cable-drum tables so you can sit and sip on your tea or coffee while enjoying a wee bit of fresh air. The breakfast menu is pretty varied; from breakfast smoothies to banana-chocolate bread to savoury pancakes to homemade soups."
"The curious cat is a wonderful cafe, as quirky as its name and with attentive and friendly staff. Vegetarians are in their element here – the cafe has a wide range of delectable baked treats, such as banana bread and brownies. The star of their daily specials menu is always their homemade soup."
"This lovely little French bakery opens up at 8am and has a rustic vibe to it. On entering, you will be instantly captivated by the wonderful smell inside. The flakiest freshest croissants come straight out of the oven and onto your plate."
"Be prepared to wait if you want to get one of the upcycled wooden-box seats at this rustic, always-busy and authentically French cafe-patisserie. Indulge yourself with a breakfast of café au lait, baguette with..."
"You’ll find some of the best breakfast in Killarney in Noelle’s Cafe on Old Market Lane. The retro cafe has an extensive menu with something to tickle most fancies. One of the most popular things on the menu is the breakfast baps, made with locally sourced Kerry bacon and eggs."

"A post shared by Summer Dodge (@summer.dodge) on Sep 15, 2015 at 1:34pm PDT. Tatler Jack’s surprise the moment you step inside, as you realize how busy it actually is. This long, narrow yet surprisingly spacious pub looks tiny and unassuming from the outside, but literally packs a punch with its friendly atmosphere, superb live music, good food and a fine selection of drinks."
"One of the more traditional hotels in Killarney is Tatler Jack, a family-run business with 10 ensuite guest rooms. The cosy bar and restaurant are open to non-residents and are popular with locals, which is a recommendation in itself. The friendly Irish bar is the place to learn the rules of Gaelic football from passionate supporters."
"It looks quite small and unassuming from the outside but don’t let that fool you. Inside, it’s quite a big busy pub with excellent live music and a friendly atmosphere. The long narrow pub also serves food and is a great late-night bar."
"The weather is getting cooler and the evenings darker and it seems that all I crave is soups, broths and ramen bowls. Last week I was in Killarney and I stumbled upon Khao in search for just that. I had a spicy chicken ramen bowl and it's genuinely one of the best I've ever had."
"Fiery spices waft from this cosy spot, which sizzles up authentic stir-fries and wok-fried noodles along with rich curries, rice dishes and noodle soups. All of its produce is organic, and vegetarian choices..."
"Next up is one of the best restaurants in Killarney for Asian cuisine. I’m talking, of course, about the brilliant Khao. Craving some tasty Asian food?"
"Not all bars have big budgets or lots of easy-to-convert space or pavements - but places like Bob's Bar in Kanturk show what you can do with a bit of ingenuity, lots of hard work and (we're guessing) 15 trips to the nearest Woodies. The pub on Percival Street in the north Cork town started out in early May with a pretty basic backyard and garden back at the start of May. And a few weeks of hard work later - they've lovely covered pods, loads of space and lots of fairy lights."
