"At the award-winning Kai Café + Restaurant, light streams through a generous roof-lantern into the rustic stone-and-wood dining room, giving a visceral sense of connection to the west coast’s rugged landscape, from where the ingredients for its dishes are sourced. With a focus on doing things simply, owners David and Jessica Murphy have created in Kai a food experience that is at once basic and innovative, unadorned and yet beautiful. Having recently joined the Sustainable Restaurant Association, their ethos is one of conscious symbiosis with their environment."

"Even ignoring the fact that I lived in New Zealand for 14 years in, I had to try out Kai. It was also popping up everywhere as a go-to for foodies in Galway. We visited for lunch and loved it but definitely need to get back for dinner too at some stage. The food was so fresh and delicious, the atmosphere was great and I loved all the little touches of Kiwiana around the restaurant, taking me back!"

The Best Hotels in Galway, Ireland, for Every Traveller
"A four-star boutique hotel with beautiful interiors, the House Hotel also has the advantage of a superb location at Spanish Parade in Galway’s Latin Quarter. This stylish spot is just a stone’s throw from some of the city’s best restaurants and bars, but with a widely celebrated cocktail bar and bistro on the premises, hosting live music every weekend, you don’t even have to venture that far. Sleeping options range from standard doubles up to extravagant suites with private balconies, and all the en-suite bathrooms have toiletries from the range by Irish designer Orla Kiely – a pleasantly patriotic touch."
